Since the establishment of the discipline group in 2018, the department has been patient-centered, adhering to the hospital motto of "making healthcare warmer, making life healthier," striving to practice the principle of "everything for the patient, for all patients, for every aspect of the patient," aiming to create a first-class cardiothoracic surgery department in Chongqing, forming a hospital-level key department with Western medicine as the mainstay, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and minimally invasive surgery as its characteristics.

Advanced equipment

  • Gyroscopic Cobalt-60 Precision Radiotherapy System

The gyroscopic knife utilizes the principle of an aerospace gyroscope, with the radiation source mounted on a gyroscopic structure that rotates synchronously in two vertical directions, both rotating and revolving, hence the name 'gyroscopic knife'. The gamma rays released by Cobalt-60 are collimated, beam-limited, and centripetally 'focused' into a high-dose region. During treatment, a stereotactic system accurately positions the pre-selected lesion or target area at the focal point, allowing the target area to receive continuous high-dose irradiation for effective treatment. The focal point remains unchanged, and with the rotation and revolution of the radiation source, the direction of incidence changes, avoiding and protecting sensitive tissues, so that normal tissues around the lesion receive only intermittent, instantaneous, minimal irradiation, with almost no damage, while expanding the effective treatment space.

  • Elekta VMAT Linear Accelerator

The Elekta linear accelerator features sub-millimeter mechanical precision, 160-leaf ruby multi-leaf collimator, 4D-CBCT real-time image guidance, and online dose verification as its core, achieving precise target locking and dynamic tracking of respiratory motion tumors. It supports VMAT, SBRT/SRS, and other full technical solutions, with ultra-high dose rates reducing single treatment to 3-5 minutes and significantly shortening the treatment course. It maximizes tumor-killing doses while providing extreme protection for normal organs, significantly reducing radiotherapy side effects and improving cure rates and patient tolerance.

  • Siemens PET/CT

PET-CT integrates PET with CT, with PET providing detailed functional and metabolic molecular information of lesions, while CT provides precise anatomical localization. A single imaging session can produce tomographic images of the entire body from various angles, characterized by sensitivity, accuracy, specificity, and precise localization. It offers a clear understanding of the overall condition of the body, achieving early detection of lesions and disease diagnosis. The advent of PET-CT represents another revolution in medical imaging, gaining recognition and widespread attention in the medical community, and is hailed as the 'crown of modern medical high technology'. PET-CT is an integration of the highest-grade PET scanners and advanced spiral CT equipment functions, primarily used in the early detection and diagnosis of major diseases in oncology, neurology, and cardiology.

  • Da Vinci Surgical Robot

The Da Vinci surgical robot features high-definition 3D stereoscopic vision, 10x magnified imaging, and a simulated mechanical arm capable of 720° flexible rotation as its core, surpassing human hand limits. It offers more precise, stable, and tremor-free operation, significantly reducing intraoperative bleeding and tissue damage, enabling minimally invasive, precise, and safe complex surgical procedures. Postoperative pain is minimal, recovery is fast, and hospital stays are short. It significantly enhances surgical quality and patient outcomes in urology, general surgery, gynecology, and cardiothoracic surgery.

  • Philips 3.0T MRI

The Philips 3.0T MRI (represented by the Ingenia series) relies on three core technologies: dStream all-digital imaging chain, MultiTransmit multi-source transmission, and Dual AI intelligent reconstruction. It offers ultra-high signal-to-noise ratio, 60% higher spatial resolution, 3x faster scanning, and 80% improved image sharpness. It can accurately detect small/early lesions, achieving high-definition rapid imaging of the nervous system, tumors, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and other areas. With a 70cm large aperture and iPatient comfort design, the examination is more comfortable, radiation-free, and can perform spectroscopy, multi-phase dynamics, and non-contrast agent vascular imaging that 1.5T cannot achieve, comprehensively improving diagnostic efficiency and confidence.

  • GE 256-Slice 512-Row Spiral CT

The GE 256-slice 512-row spiral CT, with a 16cm wide-body detector, 0.28-second ultra-fast scanning, and spectral imaging, can achieve single-heartbeat cardiac imaging and one-stop examination of critical conditions. Scanning is faster, images are clearer, and lesion detection is more precise, while radiation dose is lower and contrast agent usage is reduced. It has significant advantages in cardiac, chest pain, stroke, tumor, and vascular diagnosis.
